Belmont Police Officers Gifted Premier Body Armor Vests

Belmont police officers received a special donation Friday.

Five Premier Durus 8000 complete body armor systems were donated to the department by local businessman Andy Warlick. The department had planned on buying the extra protection vests for their officers but didn’t have the funds for them.

Each vest costs $400, weighs 15 pounds and are meant to be worn on the outside of their gear during an active shooter call. They were manufactured locally at Premier Body Armor in Kings Mountain.

Level IIIA Vertx Backpack Panel

Level IIIA Vertx Backpack Panel

Durus 8000 10x12

Items were shipped and arrived in the promised amount of time. The plates fit perfectly in my 5.11 TacTec vest. The plates are thin and seem to be heavier than described. I use the vest to throw over my duty gear and soft body armor in active shooter situations. The plates don’t make it that much bulkier.

Super versatile!..but a bit heavy.

Bought this for my wife, she thinks taticool stuff is ugly, which it is sometimes. She doesn’t always use the same bag but she always has her computer. This allows her to always have a bit of armor wherever she goes. But man, this weights more then you think it would, much heavier then other soft body panels, super cool product, I could see this item going on back order, would be nice to see it in colors that a child or wife would like but otherwise great.

Confusing at first but cool product.

Took probably 20 mins to make sense of the instructions, the photos and text didn’t make much sense to me. Very cool product, retention is good and allows a weapon to sit much flatter inside a bag, pretty slick rig.
