Bulletproof backpack panels are in high demand at Premier Body Armor in King's Mountain. The owners say they sell 800 a month online and in store.

The business has seen more than a 20 percent increase in backpack panel sales in the last year.

"I have three boys, you know, they have friends. You know, so word just started spreading. More than anything, the idea of feeling protected," Premier Body Armor president and CEO Frank Stewart said.

A CMS spokesperson says parents should check the guidelines of their child's school to see what is allowed on campus.
