The world is changing and the need for ballistic protection has increased. Enter the Discreet Plate Carrier, for peak protection without detection. It’s a true slick plate carrier: a low-profile, minimalist rig with a clean exterior designed to wear under a t-shirt, not over it.
Features of This Slick, Low-Profile Plate Carrier
A light weight plate carrier can be difficult to design - you don't want to sacrifice the functionality people want in a plate carrier. What we developed was a light plate carrier vest with essential features only, meticulous attention to detail, and a design that is built to last.
When the final design of the discreet plate carrier came to be, here's what was included:
- Full-field hook and loop velcro front, back, and shoulders
- Inner mesh liner for breathability
- Durable elastic cummerbund (1 size fits XS-2XL)
- Runs Level IIIA up to Level IV plates. Pair with rifle-rated STRATIS-Max Level IV or the lightweight Agile PE Level IIIA. Sold separately.
- Lay-flat adjustable shoulder straps
- Discreet, rounded-off velcro shoulder attachment points
- Vertical load-bearing webbing offers four levels of adjustment for compatible G-Hook placards and accessories
- Removable and replaceable cummerbund designed to fit AR-15 magazines, comms, and medical gear

Setting Up Your Slick, Low-Profile Plate Carrier
Even with the best light plate carrier, some setting up is required for comfort and functionality. Start by choosing the right plates. For maximum protection, the STRATIS Max Level IV Plate is the right choice.

Next, get the right fit. Adjust your straps so the plate carrier can stay in place without hindering movement, but it shouldn't be uncomfortably tight. Gear and accessories should be in a place that is easy to reach while maintaining the balance of weight to avoid strain.

What is a slick plate carrier?
A slick plate carrier is a carrier with no external MOLLE or laser-cut webbing; a clean, low-profile exterior that sits flat against the body. That minimalist design is what makes the Discreet Plate Carrier so easy to conceal: it runs slick under a t-shirt or jacket with no printing, while still accepting full-size 10” x 12” plates inside.
Will the Discreet Plate Carrier fit my armor plates if they're not from Premier Body Armor?
No matter if your plates are from companies such as AR500, or Spartan Armor, the Discreet Plate Carrier can hold Level III or Level IV body armor plates at or smaller than 10"x12". The plates must be thinner than 1" for an optimal fit.
Can the Discreet Plate Carrier fit any cut of armor plates?
The Discreet plate Carrier can fit SAPI/ESAPI or Shooter's Cut or Swimmer's Cut armor plates.
Is the Discreet Plate Carrier low-profile enough to conceal?
Yes. At just 1 lb with a low-profile, minimalist build and full-field hook-and-loop, it’s designed to be worn under clothing for discreet, everyday protection as a low-vis alternative to bulky open-wear carriers.
What should I place in the cummerbund of my Discreet Plate Carrier and will it be concealed as well?
The durable, elastic cummerbund is designed around AR-Magazines, but can hold all types of equipment for your mission. You can place magazines, medical gear, or communication radios. The equipment is concealed under your shoulder and arm mass, but easily accessible for rapid response.
Can I wash my carrier?
The outer carrier is machine washable. Simply remove any armor, then we recommend washing the carrier on gentle. Lay the carrier flat to dry.
How much does the discreet plate carrier weigh?
The carrier itself weights just 1 lb. What makes the plate carrier so lightweight is the low profile design. Because the discreet plate carrier is our best lightweight plate carrier, it's more often paired with lighter plates. You'll have to decide which level of protection and which weight is right for you.

This is my third purchase from Premier, I have inserts for a couple of eberlestock bags, and first plate carrier. Build quality is top notch. The carrier and plates are light and comfortable. Worn around the house for the better part of a Saturday I never experienced any discomfort, hot spots, or loss of mobility. Hides well under a heavy flannel shirt sized up, but prints under lighter fabrics. Overall very happy with my purchase.

I’m part of a security team at a well-known church. During the Christmas holidays we had over 35,000 people on our campus. Because I’m responsible for the safety of many people and because churches are often looked at as a soft target. I wear the discreet plate carrier. And use buffalo armor. It gives me the protection. I need well still being discreet. The discreet Carier is comfortable very adjustable. And because of the added pockets under the arms, you can easily carry magazines and or radios/Knife. Really comfortable and light. I can fit my 10x12 soft or armor/ ceramic plates. I wish they had a little more room because I like soft plates backed up with ceramic . It won’t fit both. It’s still a stealthy plated holder. Awesome product.

I haven't been to the range with the Discreet Plate Carrier yet. I've worn it around the house with III+ plates and I'm happy with the fit and how well it goes on and comes off. I've wondered if it has enough Velcro on the shoulder straps. It hasn't come loose but it's heavy with 17 lbs of steel. Clearly, no problems but it occured to me when I adjusted it. I like the simple design, all the velcro, and I like the one-size-fits-most sizing. I'm sure I could put this on a larger or smaller family member or friend with no fuss. I'm looking forward to trying it loaded up at the range as well as learning how well it'll work in public concealed. I might modify the cummerbund to take smaller magazines. Undecided.

This Discrete Plate Carrier is Outstanding and is perfect for discrete wear. The quality of form and function is superb. It easily fits under a jacket. The perfect layer for higher level IV protection. You should plan on stand alone plates in this plate carrier. I highly recommend this plate carrier for any discrete higher risk environment.
I recommend that the plate pockets be enlarged to accommodate larger than medium size SAPI plates.
