Leave the plastic for toys.
The Fortis Bump Helmet is a high-cut, non-ballistic helmet built for rescue operations, training, and extended NVG use where no ballistic threat is present. Unlike conventional ABS plastic bump helmets, its advanced aramid composite shell uses high-strength fibers engineered for impact resistance and durability. Tested to EN 397 standards for shock absorption, penetration resistance, and flame resistance.
The Fortis Bump Helmet shares the same hardware as our Fortis Ballistic Helmet, including a 7075 aviation-grade aluminum NVG shroud, glass-reinforced polycarbonate rails, dial retention system, and padding. That means the same NVG mounts, lights, and rail accessories work on both helmets.
A one-size-fits-all design combines a rear adjustment dial with stackable pads for a customized fit. Use thin pads for larger heads, thick pads for medium heads, or both sets for smaller heads.
*Note: Bump helmets aren't bulletproof and offer no ballistic protection.
The Fortis Bump Helmet Is For:
- Rescue and emergency response. Head protection from bumps, falling debris, and tight spaces on search and rescue and disaster response calls.
- Training and NVG setup. Build and run your night vision setup on the same shroud and rails as the Fortis Ballistic Helmet, without carrying ballistic weight on every training day.
- Hunting and airsoft. A stable, rail-ready platform for lights, cameras, and night vision, whether you're in a tree stand or at the airsoft field.

Bump helmet FAQ
Is the Fortis Bump Helmet bulletproof?
No. It's a non-ballistic helmet built for blunt impact, bumps, and debris, and it offers no protection against ballistic threats. If your work carries ballistic risk, the Fortis Ballistic Helmet is a Level IIIA ballistic helmet that shares this helmet's rails, shroud, and fit system.
What's the difference between a bump helmet and a ballistic helmet?
A bump helmet protects your head from impact. A ballistic helmet is built to stop ballistic threats, which takes a heavier shell. Our bump vs. ballistic helmet guide walks through protection, weight, materials, and cost side by side.
How do I fit a one-size helmet?
Start with the pads. Wear the thin set for larger heads, the thick set for medium, or both sets together for smaller heads. Then turn the rear dial until the helmet sits level just above your eyebrows and doesn't shift when you shake your head.
Will my NVG mount and accessories fit?
The shroud and rails are industry standard, and the same parts used on the Fortis Ballistic Helmet, so a mount, light, or rail accessory that fits that helmet fits this one. The D3O Stealth Helmet Pad System also fits if you want to upgrade the pads. If you're running heavier tubes, add a counterweight to keep the helmet balanced through a long shift.
What does tested to EN397 mean?
EN397 is the European standard for industrial safety helmets, the hard hats you see on job sites. Its core tests drop a 5 kg striker from 1 m onto the top of the helmet to measure shock absorption, check penetration resistance against a pointed 3 kg striker, and test the shell for flame resistance.
